AIRLESS PACKAGING

Few companies work very hard to build a loyal and core customer base. As we all know, the beauty and skincare industry is fueled by competitors. This competition has escalated the constant need to provide products that have the potential to drive the attention of the target audience towards the brand. Cosmetic companies now have an increasing pressure to become more eco-friendly from the ingredients used, the manufacturing process, and how the product is presented to the customer.

Packaging of a product is an integral part of the consumer satisfaction process. It is the first thing that grabs the attention of a customer. The packaging must be aesthetic, sustainable, functional, convenient, and eco-friendly. Hence, after investing time in plastic, glass, and metal packaging, brands are now moving towards airless packaging for skincare and cosmetic products. In cosmetic packaging innovation, airless pump bottles have played a breakthrough role.

Hence, after investing time in plastic, glass, and metal packaging, brands are now moving towards airless packaging for skincare and cosmetic products. In cosmetic packaging innovation, airless pump bottles have played a breakthrough role.

So let us start with,

What is airless packaging?

Airless Pump bottles are airtight and lightweight bottles designed to obliterate air from entering the packaging. When a user presses the pump, the motion initiates a vacuum effect. The air inside of the bottle is pulled out, along with the product (cosmetic and skincare products).

Pushing from the bottom is a plastic plate that sits beneath the product. This plate takes the place of a traditional dip tube that comes in most standard lotion pumps. Thus, the product is pulled up by the pump and pushed up by the diaphragm plate below. Then, air fills back in beneath the plastic plate to rebalance the bottle.

Application

Airless packaging is ideal for products sensitive to air and can lose their potential if they are exposed to air. Ideally, airless bottles are perfect for natural skincare products like creams, serums, foundations, and lotions.

Advantages of airless packaging

In recent years, airless packaging has become wildly popular. This is because airless packaging has three distinct benefits when compared to products that come in a jar:

–         Airless Packaging Keeps Skin Care Products Fresh Longer: Because the products have zero exposure to air, they can stay fresh for long. In addition, the ingredients are preserved and remain active and at their highest concentration.

–         Airless Packaging Prevents Contamination: With skincare products in a jar, you have to put your fingers in the jar to apply the product. This causes the bacteria and germs from our fingers to penetrate the product. With airless containers, your fingers can not contaminate the products.

–         Airless packaging is leak-proof and tamper-proof: Airless packaging prevents the product from spilling out of the bottle. This property makes it a preferable option to travel along.

–         Recyclable and Eco-Friendly: Most airless bottles are made of PP plastic, making them recyclable and helping reduce waste.

These bottles are refillable, and customers can be assured that they’re getting as much product out as possible, down to the last use.

–         Airless bottles work from any position: Anyone who’s ever struggled to get a lotion pump to dispense correctly knows that most bottles only work when you hold them upright or at an angle. However, these bottles work from any position due to the no-fail vacuum effect.

Airless Tubes, Jars, Dual-Chamber Bottles & More

Consumer-oriented cosmetic and skincare brands are demanding a variety of airless packaging products. There is an increase in the use of airless pump dispensing systems as compared to typical dip tubes. Brands use airless product packaging mainly for facial serums and lotions and sometimes for cosmetics, such as foundations.

Dual-chamber airless bottles are another option for skincare and are especially useful for products that contain vitamin C. The dual-chamber package delivers a concentrated, fresh dose of ingredients like vitamin C and glycolic acid with every use.

In conclusion

The impact of cosmetic packaging on sustainability and the environment has become a hot topic for both businesses and consumers. Brands have started to realize the importance of product packaging that is safe, attractive, and environmentally friendly. Consumers are becoming increasingly more eco-conscious and demanding brands that embody the spirit of ‘green’ or ‘clean’ beauty. They have started to push aside the brands that aren’t in favor of sustainable products or packaging. Opting for materials that can be recycled, reused, or biodegradable must be the preference of both manufacturers and consumers.
